Tattoo Design by me for my sister. This is the first of the three drafts I'm working on for her.
Granted, this is pretty botched up on one page due to rooming issues in my sketchbook, but I plan on redrawing / cleaning this via Illustrator.
The concept behind it is that back when I was going through my third surgery, my sister stayed overnight with me for all three days I was recovering from the total hip replacement on my right leg. To show how much she was proud of me for bearing with through 12 years of my condition she had asked me to do this design which will be located on her right hip.
Yes, the kanji may look weird but the idea is to make it look like it was carved into the tree (which... was alright-ish for my first attempt). Now since the の is repeated twice I thought of just keeping that on one falling petal and split the remaining into two separate directions. I may change that to two smaller ones with the の character in my next drafting. We'll see. As for the cherry blossoms; it's my favorite flower (hence why it's also my favorite nature subject to photograph).
I'll be working on two more other possible designs to present to her, so more will come along.
As for the color testing, those are also some practices. Will make those better when I clean this up.
And if any of you would like to commission a design from me, I'm all up for it; send me a message! Granted I don't do much on a daily basis but I'm getting back to it again after X amount of years of taking a break from illustrating.
Also I'm opening up critiques to help get feedback on this, as well as for my next two drafts.
